When the plan is to build, clearing is step one of a sequence. We take out trees, grind or pull stumps, remove root balls, and leave the footprint at a workable grade so your builder is not waiting on dirt work to start. If the property needs an access drive cut in before equipment or concrete trucks can reach the pad, we handle that in the same scope.

We will also tell you honestly when clearing alone is not enough. Sites with real drainage problems, steep grade changes, or fill requirements need excavation and grading, and it is cheaper to plan that in from the start than to discover it after the trees are down.

Three options, three different outcomes. Forestry mulching grinds trees and brush into a few inches of chips spread over the cleared area — no hauling, no smoke, and the chip layer slows regrowth and protects the soil for a season or two. It is the option most Birmingham homeowners choose.

Burning works on larger properties when the county is not under a burn ban and there is safe distance from structures. We stack a clean pile, pull the permit through the Alabama Forestry Commission, and stay with it. Clearing near water changes the job. If your parcel touches a blue-line stream, a wetland, or a drainage way, we keep clearing back from the buffer where state stormwater rules apply, and we will point out the portion of a property that should not be touched rather than clear it and leave you with the problem. Larger disturbed areas can require a stormwater permit and erosion control measures, and we will tell you when your job is in that territory.
